Major Changes for 2013

Last year was a crazy busy year. I had a newborn baby and business kind of exploded. I am incredibly grateful for all of my clients and their confidence in my work, however, it was a really tough year for my little family. In the future, I would love for my business to grow and expand, but for now I have a husband and four little kiddos that are my priority. So, I’ve made numerous business changes that will effect scheduling, pricing, and work-time for me.

Pricing changes can be found under the various tabs. All changes have been entered, so what you see is accurate as of March 31st. I have included sales tax in the listed prices for ease of processing for me and for you. There are various price increases, but these were necessary to maintain profitability and make my time away from my family worth it. Hopefully you don’t see anything that isn’t typically seen in the photography industry. I tried to keep my prices affordable and fair.

Secondly (and this is mostly a rule that I’ll be forcing myself to keep), edited images will be limited to the range stated in  your session listing. Oftentimes I end up having requests for or simply end up editing WAY more images than are included in the session. While I enjoy what I do, editing takes a significant amount of time and I need to keep these limits enforced.

I have a couple of weddings already on the books for this year and while all of those bookings will be honored, I will not be booking any additional weddings. This may change in the future, but for now I won’t be doing any more weddings.

This year I will be handling family sessions VERY differently than in the past, but I think the changes will be good for me and my clients. For 2013, family sessions will ONLY be booked during mini-session events. These events will allow me to photograph 10-12 families in one event day. The price will be affordable for my clients and they will still receive 8-12 edited images on CD. It’s a way for you to get your family photos done at a discount and a way for me to consolidate from what was sometimes 4 or 5 different week night sessions each week.

The first mini-session event will be held May 11th. Cost for an individual session will be $85. Family sessions of 2-5 individuals will be $125 ($10 for each additional person ~ 12 individuals maximum). Sessions will last 30-40 minutes and clients will receive 8-12 edited images on CD with printing rights. The May 11th session will be held in Eltopia, Washington. A $50 non-refundable deposit will be required to hold your time slot to avoid last minute cancellations that can’t be filled. The deposit will be deducted off of the price owed on event day. Contact me early to guarantee your spot if you’re wanting family photos this year. Time slots are as follows: 8:30am, 9:15am, 10:00am, 10:45am, 11:30am, 1:00pm, 1:45pm, 2:30pm, 3:15pm, 4:00pm, 4:45pm, 5:30pm. The second and final family mini-session event day will be held in the fall on October 26th (location to be determined).

Mini Session Flyer The summer months will be reserved for senior photos or individuals/small groups. And by small I mean groups of 3 or less. I will be limiting the number of sessions I do per week to one or two, depending on my schedule and session demand. I may hold a third mini-session event in the summer if demand for family photos during the summer is high. Please book early to guarantee yourself a session and for the best selection of available dates.

I just want to say thank  you again to all of the wonderful clients that I’ve had the opportunity to work with. I’ve been truly blessed to be able to work with you and capture a part of your lives for you. I hope to be able to continue to do that and I’m hoping that these changes mean great things for me and my family and for you. Thanks so much!

Contact me by email at briannehuwephotography@gmail.com or message me on facebook or my blogs with any questions or to book your session for this year.

LDS Temple Prints

I’ve had some requests for temple prints and I’ve finally come up with some available shots and options. There will be 16x24 inch canvas-textured, mounted prints available for $85. You will need a frame for these, but no glass. I can get frames for you, but I decided to offer them without as everyone’s taste and home decor vary so much. If you’d like one already framed, contact me about options and pricing. There will also be 3/4 inch standout prints available (these are similar to gallery wraps, but have a solid color (either black or white) on the sides instead of part of your print). These require no frame and come ready to hang. These are also in a 16x24 inch size. Pricing for these is $110. Contact me if you’re interested in ordering any of the available prints. Currently available prints are shown below.

Best of 2011 Photo Contest

Okay, the entries are in and the contest is ready to go. I will be posting a folder on my facebook page in a minute with all of the entries included. Rules are simple. Vote for your favorite or favorites. I honestly don’t care how many you vote for.:) You vote by clicking like on the image that you favor. Winners will be determined by the photos with the most votes. There will be a first, second, and third place. Prizes are as follows:  Winners will be able to select between a metallic standout of their image or a canvas-textured print that is mounted and ready to frame (no glass will be necessary). Standout images are printed on metallic paper (very vibrant colors) and then they have a 3/4” black edging on them that makes them stand-out from the wall. They come ready to hang. No frame necessary. For the canvas-textured image you will need a frame, but not one that includes glass as previously stated. First place will receive a 16x24, second place an 11x14, and third place an 8x10 of their winning image.

I won’t be tagging the images, but you can feel free to tag yourself in your photo to increase exposure. You can also solicit votes from whomever you want by sharing your image on your page and asking others to do the same. Approach it however you like.:) Voting will begin once posted and the contest will officially end on Sunday, February 5th, at midnight PST. The votes will be counted and I’ll notify the winners and then order their images. It will probably take about a week for me to receive them as they’re specialty prints and then I’ll get them to you.

So, have fun and good luck! I love me a good contest!

Best of 2011 Contest Entries

Okay, I’m going to run the “Best of….” contest a little differently this year. Instead of me choosing my favorite image from each session and automatically entering it, I’m going to let my customers choose their favorite image and enter it. So, either message me on facebook or send me an email at briannehuwephotography@gmail.com indicating the image # from your CD that you’d like to enter. If you don’t want to enter, it doesn’t matter to me. You don’t have to. If you’d like to, then great! Just submit the image # to me by Tuesday, January 24th at midnight PST (via facebook or email). I’ll upload all of the entries to an album and then the voting will begin! Hope to hear from many of you soon! Side note: EVERYONE (besides me . . . meaning my very own children) is eligible for entry. I don’t care if you’re related to me or not because I can’t vote anyhow.:)

Instead of gift cards this year, prizes will actually be prints of the winning images. And I’m talking gorgeous canvas textured prints of your images. I haven’t quite decided on the mounting options yet because there are so many new choices from my printer, but your prints will be beautiful, I promise.:) Once I receive all of the entries and post the contest rules, I’ll let you know specifically the sizes and details of the prints that will be given as prizes.

Anyway, let the entries begin!

Baby N ~ 8 Days

Little N was another May session. And he was a hoot! And adorable if anyone is wondering. So, there his mom and I were, in her living room, the heat cranked up to 80 degrees so we could undress him and let him snooze (dripping in sweat ourselves). Apparently in his first 7 days of life he did almost nothing but sleep. Well, day 8 he was simply not interested. He’d doze for a second…..and then not so much. It was tough to get the poses we were after, but I ended up with some super adorable ones anyway. And then there was the poop. I’ve never seen so much of it. The second we took off his diaper and laid him on his little tummy for a photo…..he’d poop. I’m so glad we were using a white backdrop and blanket at the time.:) It was hard not to laugh. Since this was back in May I can’t remember if he pooped 3 or 4 times, but it was a lot. And then he peed too. I kindly informed him that he’d be getting blog story of the year for his behavior…..that seemed to just motivate him more.:) Anyway, he was gorgeous and it was nothing a little bleach couldn’t fix. Thanks Baby N! Hopefully I’ll get to watch you grow up into a handsome little man!
